Module Overview

The MVME-147A is a dual-height VME module based on the MC68030 microprocessor, designed for 32-bit VMEbus systems. It features large-capacity on-board shared RAM, serial ports, a Centronics printer port, and integrates multiple functions such as a SCSI bus controller with DMA and a floating-point coprocessor.

Interfaces:

8-bit Centronics parallel printer port (on some models).
Ethernet transceiver interface (except for MVME-147-010).
VMEbus master interface (A32/D32, compatible with A24/D16).

Jumper Configuration
The module operates via factory-installed jumpers. Adjustments to jumper arrangements are required when changing settings such as ROM configuration selection, system controller selection, or serial port 4 clock configuration. The module is equipped with four 32-pin ROM/PROM/EPROM/EEPROM sockets, supporting various sizes of EPROMs and EEPROMs. Only devices with "static RAM"-compatible erase/write mechanisms (e.g., Xicor X28256 or X2864H) are supported.
System Operation and Debugging
The MVME-147Bug debugging monitor firmware, located in two EPROMs on the module's sockets, provides over 50 commands for debugging, uploading/downloading, and disk boot loading. It also includes a full set of on-board diagnostic programs and a one-line assembler/disassembler.
